Conference Room Display Size Calculator
Enter the distance to the farthest seat and what the room usually shows. We'll give you the minimum display size that keeps everyone in the meeting.
Based on the common 4:1, 6:1, and 8:1 viewing distance to image height ratios used in AV design. Room shape, table layout, and dual-display needs all change the answer, which is what a real room standard accounts for.
How is display size calculated for a meeting room?
Designers size displays from the farthest viewer and the content. A widely used rule sets minimum image height at one quarter of the farthest viewing distance for detailed analytical content, one sixth for everyday documents and spreadsheets, and one eighth for video and presentations. The diagonal follows from a 16:9 aspect ratio.
Is bigger always better in a conference room?
Not past the point where the closest seats are uncomfortably near the screen or the display dominates a small room. Sizing to the farthest viewer and the real content usually lands on a display that is large enough without being a distraction.
When does a room need a video wall or LED instead of a flat panel?
When the size the room needs is larger than a single panel can provide, typically beyond roughly 98 inches diagonal, or when a seamless image at a large size matters. Our video wall calculator covers that case.
